Moissanite is similar to diamond in several ways: it is transparent and hard (9-9.5 on the Mohs scale), compared to 10 for diamond; it has a refractive index between 2.65-2.69 (2.42 for diamond). Moissanite is therefore more brilliant than diamond.
If diamonds are too expensive, then moissanites are an ideal alternative.

The heart shape is typically composed of 56-58 facets, although the number of facets on the main pavilion can vary between 6, 7 and 8. Additionally, heart shapes are sometimes cut with "French tips", which replace the large bezel facet at the top with star facets and upper belt facets. French tips are also used in Marquise and Pear shapes. Heart shapes can have a slightly different appearance, depending on their manufacture or structure.
The traditional heart shape should have a ratio between 0.90 and 1.10 and be absolutely symmetrical, with the lobes (upper arches) of equal height and width, although these specifications can be modified according to personal preference.
To determine the length-to-width ratio for heart shapes, the width is measured at the widest point of the shape, from the edge of one lobe to the other. Additionally, the heart shape can suffer from the so-called "bow effect," when light passing through the diamond casts a shadow over the central facets of the stone.
